Lone Star University

Lone Star University is committed to facilitating timely and structured learning experiences as well as offering essential support in the career development of all Team Members. By ensuring proper application of “The Lone Star Way”, continuous job performance improvement will support our organization’s business goals.

Classroom Learning
Considered the most traditional learning delivery method, classroom learning provides higher interaction between the instructor and the learner. This interactive environment establishes teamwork and engagement. Various activities allow our team members to become familiar with their responsibilities and to practice friendly competition. Our classrooms are set up with state-of-the-art technology and work areas, which closely simulate real-life environments and experiences.
With technology playing such an important role in both our personal and business lives, it is important to incorporate it in our learning delivery methods. This method allows our team members to learn at their own pace, during their preferred time. We offer more than 150 e-learning courses ranging from regulatory compliance to leadership and management skills. We offer facilitated online learning, which allows our team members to stay engaged in the training presentation, ask questions, and discuss recommendations. This delivery method is mainly used for "just-in-time" trainings when information must be efficiently shared, yet no need for face-to-face classroom learning.
On-the-job Learning
Learning by doing is a training tool proven to be effective among adult learners. It gives the team member a sense of empowerment, by providing real-life applications that make it easier to understand procedures on daily responsibilities. Department team members are available to work as a team in order to provide guidance and answer any questions.
Tailored Development Plans
The focus of our tailored career plans is to provide a roadmap for achieving individual success through training and professional development. Team member's engagement as well as commitment to learning and applying is of a great deal of importance for the successful completion of required training. The personal investment of time to enhance professional skills will also contribute to the team member's career development and advancement. Some of the many Career Plans available include: Retail Sales Department, Lending Department, Lone Star University Department, Credit Department, Credit Risk Department, Accounting Department, Audit Department, and Compliance Department.
Continuing Education
It is of great importance that our team members continue their education through bank-sponsored internal and external training resources. The bank provides the opportunity for continuing education through seminars, conferences, online courses, and professional consultant services. These certifications will be obtained from either Lone Star University or an external professional training resource.
