The value
of your Star Gift Card can be combined with cash or check when
you are making a purchase. At the option of each merchant, the
value of your Star Gift Card may also be combined with a credit
or debit card when you are making a purchase. If you will be
using your Star Gift Card to make a purchase that is greater
than the amount on the card, tell the cashier that you would
like to pay the difference first and then use your card to pay
the remaining balance. Otherwise, if you try to make a purchase
for more than the amount on the Star Gift Card, the transaction
will be declined because you don’t have enough money on your
Star Gift Card. Keep track of your Star Gift Card balance so
that you can avoid making purchases for more than the amount
remaining on the Star Gift Card.

account a tip/gratuity; however, only the amount you authorize
will be deducted from the value on the card. This type of
authorization can also occur at hotels and car rental agencies
to take into account incidentals that may exceed the actual
price of the room/car/etc.
